Rogers Family Fund Established to Support Catholic Youth Organization
By Karl Pratt, executive director, Sheridan County Community Foundation
Hoxie, Kan. ⸺ The Sheridan County Community Foundation (SCCF) proudly announces the establishment of the Rogers Family Fund, a new designated fund created in memory of beloved Hoxie resident, Marilyn Rogers. This fund, made possible through generous memorial donations and support from the Rogers family, will provide annual financial assistance to the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church for the unrestricted support of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) activities.
The Rogers Family Fund is the first fund to receive a $3,000 match from the newly launched Hansen Matching Initiative through the Sheridan County Community Foundation. This initiative is designed to encourage the creation of new endowment funds, with the Hansen Foundation contributing $2,000 and SCCF adding an additional $1,000 to eligible funds.
The Rogers Family Fund’s participation in this program ensures a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of Catholic youth in Hoxie.
Marilyn Rogers, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Her life was defined by her dedication to education, faith, and community service. Marilyn devoted many years to teaching elementary students, directing religious education for Catholic youth, and actively participating in community initiatives such as NEC theater productions and the Sheridan County Amusement Company.
Beyond her professional and volunteer contributions, Marilyn was a woman of deep faith, kindness, and adventure. Whether tending to her garden, enjoying the ocean breeze, or sharing special moments with her grandchildren, she embraced life’s beauty with gratitude and love. Her legacy will live on through the Rogers Family Fund, ensuring that her passion for education and faith continues to inspire the youth of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
SCCF invites additional contributions to the Rogers Family Fund to further support the Catholic Youth Organization. Donations can be made to the Foundation at P.O. Box 445, Hoxie, KS 67740, or online at https://gnwkcf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/list, search “Rogers Family Fund.”
