
Marvin Dean Rohn, 86, of Oakley, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was born on May 26, 1938, in Ogallah, KS, to Emanuel and Minnie (Dietz) Rohn. Marvin graduated from Trego Community High School in 1956 and joined the United States Navy, serving from 1956-1959. Upon his return from the service, he worked in the oil fields and as a mechanic around WaKeeney, KS, before moving to Oakley in 1961. There he worked as a mechanic at Mel’s Motors and later at Jim Mitten Trucking. In 1972, Marvin opened Cross Country Truck Service, which he ran until his retirement. Marvin was a member of the Oakley VFW, the Oakley Eagles Lodge, NRA, Tin Can Sailors, Kansas Motor Carriers and Immanuel Lutheran Church. On August 18, 1962, Marvin married Lou Ann Unrein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann; his father and mother-in-law; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Marvin is survived by his daughter Deana (Edgar) and granddaughter Megan, of Cancun, Mexico; sister Rosetta Deines, of WaKeeney, KS; brothers, Robert Rohn, of Wichita, KS and James (Kathy) Rohn of Avon Lake, OH; brother-in-law, Tim (Connie) Unrein, of Ocala, Florida; nephew Lance (Janine) Deines, of Olathe, KS; niece Jana (Bryce) Abbott, of Wichita, KS and numerous nieces and nephews on Ann’s side of the family.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Immanual Lutheran Church, Oakley, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Oakley.
