Ken Alan Moses was born in Colby, Kansas, on October 15, 1970, the fifth child of Emery B. and Leta Fern (Woerpel) Moses. He departed this life on March 15, 2025, at the age of 54.
Ken attended Colby Grade School and Colby High School, a graduate of the class of 1989. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, 25th Infantry Division on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. After serving his country for three years, he later attended Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, where he completed the electrical program. He worked for Jim’s Electric for a while, and later worked at Western Sprinklers and for several farmers in the area.
Ken liked to have fun, and shared fun times and laughter with people everywhere he went. Many of the memories have been shared over the years, but some have yet to be revealed due to the statute of limitations. He lived life with passion and zeal and was a true friend to many. He was always true to himself--his ideas, beliefs, and values.
Ken went to Ludell Days on August 21st, 1999, and it was there that he met Michelle Glad. They immediately hit it off, and they talked to each other every day since that time, until his death. Ken and Michelle were married December 26, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a private wedding ceremony with only the two of them and the pastor.
Because the pastor messed up Ken’s name several times during the wedding, Ken often joked that he was never sure they were legally married.
After marrying, Ken and Michelle lived in Colby. The first tenmonths of their marriage, Ken’s dad passed away, along with both of Michelle’s parents. Shortly after the death of his in-laws, Ken took over the Glad family farming and ranching operation, and Ken and Michelle built a home and settled in Atwood in 2003.
Ken was good at what he did, and took great pride in his work, his family and his faith. During the last two-and-a-half years of his life, he openly shared his faith in Jesus Christ and sought to bring people into closer relationship with God. He had a good singing voice, and with Michelle’s encouragement, he sang at two of her Christmas concerts with rave reviews.
Ken and Michelle were blessed with three daughters: Avery Eaden, born in 2005, Ainsley Mae, in 2008, and Ayla Joy, in 2010. A son, Amos, died before birth in 2006. His girls were his pride and joy, and he attended nearly all of their activities until limited by his health. He especially enjoyed helping Ayla with her horses and barrel racing at rodeos and other area events.
Ken liked fishing, guns and shooting, and enjoyed nothing more than a drive to check cattle.
Ken faithfully attended the Atwood United Methodist Church and was on the church Administrative Council. He was also a member of Colby VFW Post 363.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard (Rick) Moses, in-laws Eliott and Sus Glad, nephew Connor Moses, and nieces, Caitlyn Moses and Melissa Moses.
Ken is survived by wife Michelle, and daughters Avery, Ainsley and Ayla of the home, brothers Mike (Cindy) Moses of Colby; Boyce (Pam) Moses of Hutchinson; sister Cathy (Paul) Breeden of Quinter; sister-in-law Linda Moses of St. Francis; brother-in-law Brendon Glad of Lawrence, ten nieces and nephews and their families, and a host of wonderful friends and relatives.
