TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced Tuesday 12 appointments to the following boards, commissions, and council.
State Board of Pharmacy Purpose: To license and register entities conducting business relating to the practice of pharmacy and to protect public health and welfare against unauthorized practice of pharmacy.
Janine Ohler, Manhattan
Joanna Robinson, Lawrence
Lucinda Noches Talbert, Kansas City (reappointment)
REACH Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors Purpose: To advance equity and health care coverage and ensure that all underserved people in the community have quality health care.
Sharla Smith, Overland Park (reappointment)
Kansas Board of Healing Arts Purpose: To ensure health care professionals meet certain qualifications to protect the public from incompetent practice by individuals who have been credentialed to practice in Kansas.
Monica Murnan, Girard
Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Purpose: To oversee law enforcement training under the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act and provide accredited instruction for full-time police and law officers.
John Merchant, Hiawatha
Kansas Human Trafficking Advisory Board Purpose: To explore the issues of human trafficking in Kansas.
Carole Cadue-Blackwood, Lawrence
Kansas State Fair Board Purpose: To oversee the showcase of Kansas agriculture, commerce, and industry, providing education and entertainment to all Kansans.
Kathy Brazle, Chanute (reappointment)
Ann Sankey, Andale
Advisory Commission for Children with Special Healthcare NeedsPurpose: To consult with and advise the secretary of health and environment on matters relating to children with special health care needs.
Melissa Hodges, Berryton
Palliative Care and Quality of Life Interdisciplinary Advisory CouncilPurpose: To develop recommendations and advise the department of health and environment on matters related to palliative care initiatives and the palliative care consumer and professional information and education program.
Kate Shoemaker, Olathe
Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission Purpose: To recommend qualified individuals for appointment to the Kansas Supreme Court.
