The (8-5) Colby Eagles traveled to Norton on Feb. 4 to face the (10-3) Bluejays, but had little trouble securing the win after a tough first quarter.  Norton was missing their leading scorer in Eli Jones at 16 point-per-game, and Colby’s offense was rolling with high percentage shooting, winning the game 43-66.

The first quarter was very competitive with Norton going on a 7-3 run to start the game, but Colby came back tying the game at 10 with a three-pointer from Carroll with 1:43 left in the first quarter.  Jordan Jones then found the bucket to secure the lead going into the second 11-12.

Colby picked up their scoring in the second quarter by outdoing Norton 10-16, but Jones was getting hot making everything he threw at the rim.  He finished the first half with 12 points, and Guy Tubbs provided 8 points in the half to secure the seven point lead, 21-28.

Norton couldn’t adjust much at the halftime break, as Colby continued the onslaught of shooting outscoring Norton 9-19.  Colby was dominant on the offensive glass earning 8 points off putbacks, growing Colby’s lead to seventeen, 30-47.

In the final quarter Colby stayed hot until pulling their first rotation in the final minutes of the game.  Brayden Foss, Casen Carroll, and Max Kersenbrock provided the burst of scoring to start the fourth, and seal the game for Colby.

Colby was led by Jones with 25, Tubbs with 14, Foss had 11, Carroll finished with 7, and Kersenbrock ended with 4 points.  Next the Eagles will be traveling to Holcomb on Feb. 7.
