Rawlins County’s Amelia Bowles rolled in a 20-foot put on the final hole to win by one shot to win the individual golf title and capture the first-ever girls' state golf championship in the program's history yesterday at the 3-1A State Golf Tournament in Emporia.
Bowles finished with a two-day total of 147 to knock off the three-time defending champ Margret Ulrich of Wichita-Collegiate.
The Goodland Cowgirl golf team also brought home some hardware yesterday, placing third in the team standings. Ali Cure placed 5th, and Natalie Cure came in 7th to lead GHS, which shot a two-day score of 734, 16 strokes back of St. Mary' s-Colgan and Silver Lake, which each shot 718's to place in the top two spots.
Colby finished sixth in the team standings with senior Logan Nolan leading the way placing 7th, earning a medal.
