Hey everyone, Kristina here from Fly Over Country 97.9, NWKS Radio! Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Koe Wetzel, one of the biggest names in the music scene today. To say I was a little nervous would be an understatement, but Koe quickly put me at ease with his down-to-earth charm and candid personality.

The Heart of Music

When I asked Koe about his favorite part of making music, his response was genuine: “Creating something new, creating something from nothing.” This passion fuels his performances, and he loves connecting with fans and fellow artists alike. As he put it, “It’s a lot of fun to catch up with your friends at a festival like Born and Raised"

Life on the Road

Speaking of the road, Koe shared a glimpse into his daily routine while touring. “We sleep a lot,” he laughed, but there’s much more to it. From workouts and golf sessions to sound checks and dinner, his days are filled with activities that keep the momentum going. Despite the hustle, he emphasizes the camaraderie shared among his crew, especially as the production side of things has grown significantly over the years.

The Evolution of His Sound

With his recent music reflecting a new direction, I asked Koe what songs newcomers should listen to if they want to understand who he is as an artist. He suggested three tracks: “Something to Talk About,” “Kuntry and Wistern,” and from his latest album, 9 Lives, “Damn Near Normal.” Koe believes that music genres are blending more than ever, allowing a diverse audience to appreciate various styles—even if they once thought they didn’t like country music. “The genre's just gotten so big,” he noted, highlighting how it's welcoming a new wave of fans.

Looking Ahead

As for what’s next for Koe, he’s focused on finishing up the current tour while working on new music. “Hopefully, we’ll put out something new before the end of the year,” he shared. His excitement about returning to Oklahoma after a year or two away was palpable, as he looked forward to reconnecting with old friends and fans.

Before we wrapped up, I made sure to mention that Koe should put Colby, Kansas on his map for a future stop. “If we got a piss, we’ll come in,” he joked, but I know we’d love to have him play a song or two for us on FlyOver Country 97.9 live.

Thank you, Koe Wetzel, for sharing your time and insights with us! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you, and we’ll be cheering you on from NWKS Radio. Until next time, keep enjoying the music and supporting your favorite artists!
